New World – December Update: Winter Convergence Festival

WINTER CONVERGENCE FESTIVAL The holiday of Winter Convergence is upon Aeternum! Marked by the appearance of increased snowfall and Northern Lights in the sky this is a time of dichotomy and duality as the Winter Wanderer and Winter Warrior come to the land. Icy winds and the Winter Wanderer bring with them new armors, weapons, furnishings, skins, consumables, and a delightful “present gifting” emote. Learn more about all the Winter Convergence has to offer on our Winter Convergence Festival event page. From activities such as Convergence Spirit decorations, lost present recovery, and Gleamite collecting, to danger-filled Ice Caves and festive loot, this event will bring special and limited time content into Aeternum. The Winter Convergence Festival will last in Aeternum from December 16, 2021 to January 11, 2022. Ice Caves are appearing all over Aeternum due to the Winter Warrior’s desire for a Forever Winter. The rest of Aeternum will look like these Ice Caves if the onslaught of the Warrior is not stopped. These caves will remain behind after the event as scars on the land, sources of wintry magic that refuse to melt even if the Warrior is defeated. New World – Update 1.1.1

New World Update 1.1.1 will release at 11pm PT (7am UTC) on November 30. Greetings Adventurers! This week’s update is focused on resolving some of the issues that have arisen from our November Update. Our development team is continually working on improving the New World experience and they thank you all for your patience and reports that you continue to make on the official forums. A full list of changes and fixes can be found below. Motes from Elemental enemies: Fixed an issue causing a large number of motes to drop from elemental enemies. We also removed elemental motes as rewards from gathering elemental creatures and reduced the amount of other resources acquired from them to account for the number of them in the world and the frequency at which they respawn. The original intention with these creatures was to make them challenging and infrequent encounters in the world. The way we used them in practice resulted in them becoming less dangerous and more frequent which caused an imbalance with the amount of resources they provided, compared to the primary sources such as elemental plants and stones. MISSING HORTICULTURE GEAR In our latest update, we made a mistake that treated…

New World – “Into the Void” Update 1.1

NEW WEAPON: VOID GAUNTLET The Void Gauntlet has manifested in Aeternum. Manipulate the powers of the Void to support your allies and debilitate your enemies with this magical damage/support hybrid weapon. It’s the first weapon to scale on both Intelligence and Focus, making it a great pairing with the Life Staff and other magical weapons. Adventurers will be able to progress through two weapon mastery trees, allowing the player to manipulate Void magic in different ways: The Annihilation tree focuses on maximizing damage at close-range and revolves around Void Blade, a summoned blade of corrosive void energy. The Decay tree offers ranged healing and debuffs and revolves around Orb of Decay, a dual phase projectile that can debuff enemies and heal allies. With its arsenal of buffs and debuffs, the Void Gauntlet is perfect for group combat and can significantly bolster your allies at the expense of your enemies. NEW ENEMIES: THE VARANGIAN KNIGHTS The Varangians are a force of invading knights currently raiding Southeastern Aeternum. They are led by Lord Commander Attalus, a Gaul with a reputation for brutality and a twisted sense of humor. Commander Attalus and the Varangians are vassals to a powerful warlord named Varik “The…

New World – How Gear Score Works

Source Watermark Explanation New World has a system called the High Watermark System that affects your in game gear score. Watermark refers to your maximum gear score of a particular item. For example, if you have a helmet that is gear score 500, you kill a mob and that mob drops a helmet with a gear score of 510, the 510 is now your Watermark for your gear score for your helmet slot. So, moving forward as long as you’re killing mobs that are capable of dropping items in that range, the range of items dropped for your helmet will now be in the 510 range. The same logic applies to all of your gear slots. It’s important to note that each weapon has an independent Watermark. How the Watermark System Works   The High Watermark System kicks in when your character reaches level 60 and it governs the power of gear drops you receive as you progress towards more powerful areas in New World. When an enemy or a container drops a piece of gear, a gear score for that item is rolled. As you level the gear score naturally progresses with your level, however once you reach the level cap the…

New World – Update 1.0.5

This week’s update introduces more general changes and bug fixes. We’d like to thank you for your patience as our team continues to work on resolving issues, and for your continued reports on our official forums. You can find a full list of changes and fixes below. GENERAL COIN SELLERS We know many of you have seen the pesky chat messages from players spamming messages, and we’re continuing to investigate solutions to this issue. We discovered that many coin sellers were creating new characters and transferring money to other accounts. To combat this, we’ve: Banned and suspended many of the reported accounts. Thank you for your reports for players spamming chat. Added restrictions to prevent player-to-player trading and currency transfer from characters under level 10, or whose account is less than 72 hours old. Logging in after your account is 72 hours old will enable your ability to trade and transfer currency once you’ve hit level 10. Redistributed coin value from some early quests to later in the Main Story questline, keeping the total amounts of coin earned the same, just delivered in quests slightly later. Trading Post usage will be restricted until new characters accept the “Introduction to Trading…

Before we dive into the details on exactly how the server transfer system works, our plan to roll it out to all regions, and our list of bug fixes, we wanted to thank everyone who has supported New World in our first few weeks after launch. To show our appreciation for your patience, we are granting all players “The Stoic” in-game title. New World – Server transfers delayed to avoid disruption

The New World server transfer saga continues this week, as Amazon posts another new update. The Amazon-published massively-multiplayer online RPG has proven incredibly popular since launch; so popular, in fact, that players were queuing to join servers during its first week on sale. To get around the initial server problems, Amazon encouraged players to join any available servers, before transferring to a new, more desirable server at a later date. Unfortunately, however, server transfers are yet to materialise, as Amazon delays the feature yet again. Indeed, server transfers were scheduled to launch at the tail-end of the week, but have been delayed to avoid major disruptions. An Amazon spokesperson confirmed the news online, telling fans that the feature is ready to go, and will be released next week. “We have the final pieces of the server transfer system tested and ready to go, but we are making a difficult decision to hold it until next week. “This was a balance call between honouring a date we told you to expect, versus the disruption of a deployment during a peak play period (the weekend).” According to Amazon, the development team has been working on the feature every day since it was…

New World – Update 1.0.2

FACTION MISSIONS: We adjusted the rates of influence gain over time so that it will continue to require significant effort over time to flip a territory into conflict state: Reduced the amount of influence increase over time significantly for attacking factions. This is to account for a bug we found where the increase was multiplied much faster than intended over time. Removed the decrease in influence over time for defending factions. BUG FIXES: GENERAL BUG FIXES: Fixed an issue where players could respawn as a corpse. Fixed an issue where the tier 3 fishing treasure chest wouldn’t fight back after being hooked. Fixed various localization issues and text fields. Fixed an issue causing players kicked, suspended, banned, or removed from the game by Easy Anti-Cheat to receive unclear communication. Additional messaging has been added so players can better understand the penalty they received. Fixed an issue causing territory influence to be reset after an Invasion. Fixed an issue where players attempting to take a split amount of stacked items from a different settlement their faction owns, they were charged for the entire cost of the items in the stack. Fixed a game crash caused by a player targeting another player…

New World – Update: 1.0.1

We’ve implemented the groundwork for the character server transfer, and you may see elements of that work in the in-game store. We’re continuing to work on this feature, and will have more information on how the system works later this week when we release server transfers. WAR Changed turret projectiles in War from physical projectiles to use hitscan detection. This should help performance in War, with fewer objects being spawned in the world. AFK PREVENTION In an effort to ensure players can’t stay AFK, especially in higher population servers, we’ve made the following adjustments to the AFK prevention system. Added additional AFK prevention to ensure players cannot fool the existing system with simulated mouse movement. Shortened the AFK warning message from 20mins to 15mins. Shortened the AFK disconnect from 25mins to 20mins. WORLD QUEUE We added a confirmation screen when a player attempts to leave the queue for a world, asking the player to confirm if they’re intending to leave the queue. This should help ensure nobody accidentally leaves the queue and misses out on their spot in line. BUG FIXES: GENERAL FIXES Fixed a rare issue causing the interact key to not properly function on various objects in the…
